2025 Chieftain announced

Peebles Highland Games Association is delighted to announce that this year the role of Chieftain will be filled by Mrs Helen Porteous. 

Helen is very well known within Peebles and the Borders area having been the longest serving employee at Scottish Borders Council where she  worked as an administrative assistant in finance for 50 years until her retirement last Christmas.   Following a ten year stint at the Council Headquarters, she was appointed as Secretary to the Rector of Peebles High School in 1984 where she worked in the office ever since. 

Helen is married to Ex-Cornet Willie Porteous and they have two children, Gary and Karen and a one year old granddaughter Eden Rose. 

Along with Willie, Helen served on the PHG Committee for many years before stepping back a few years ago.  Helen will now join Willie in becoming our Ceremonial Chieftain after he was honoured with the role in our 50th Anniversary year of 2022. 

Helen is still heavily involved with Peebles Ex-Servicemen’s Pipe Band where she is Treasurer.
