The Highland Dancing competition is run under Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD) rules.

Competition registration number is BL9

The Highland Dancing competition runs from 10.30 - 17:00

The competition is adjudicated by qualified judges who will judge dancers within each standard and age group as categorised below;

Primary Dancers – children under the age of 7 who compete in the 16 Pas de Basques, Pas de Basques and Highcuts, Highland Fling and Sword Dance.

Beginners Section – these are children age 7 and over who are new to competitions. They compete in Highland Fling, Sword Dance, Sean Triubhas, Half Hullachan and Special Fling.

Novice Section – once dancers have progressed through the Beginners section they move into the Novice section and perform the same 5 dances as the Beginners in this competition.

Intermediate section – this is the next level after dancers have progressed through Beginners and Novice and these dancers compete in the Highland Fling, Sword Dance, Sailors Hornpipe and Irish Jig.

Premier dancers – these are the dancers who have achieved all the levels outlined above and compete for prize money in the same dancers as the Intermediate section at this competition.

The approximate timetable for our competition is as follows;

9.30am – Primary Section

10.30am – Beginners and Novice sections

1.30pm – Intermediate and Premier Sections

5.15pm – Parade down Peebles High Street of Prize winners
